I tried toothpaste and it worked for 8 weeks fine. I don't suggest it though

Did you read that article through? While yes, it works for few days, it has some major issues too. Like oxidizing effect on metals and contact surfaces. having something like that all over laptop inside is something I wouldn't suggest.
