Depends on how much data you have. If you don't have too much, then it shouldn't be a problem. However, if you hoard data like me, then probably not.

Ive got 2x 240GB Kingston SSD's in my build. Perfectly fine.

Since when has adding more capacity in terms of memory ever made a computer worse?

depends on how big your wallet is. and how much storage you need

@UberGamerKing im sorry but that is not entirely true. It may make it a bit slower if you keep apps or your operating system on the drive but if its just for mass data storage like movies or photos it really doesn't make a difference. In some cases its even better as you can recover hdd easier and better than ssd.

yeah of course, you just need enough space for all your files and games and you're good

There's nothing wrong going pure SSD, as long as what you have can be contained within.

 

If you are replacing an HDD that's still good, you can get a hard drive enclosure and use it as extended storage when needed.

Thanks for all the replys! Budgets not a problem. I store nearly nothing, 16/yro just games. Any SSD suggestions? 500gb-1tb?

if you want something that will last for many years and not lose your data, get something from intel or samsung

Is there a reason why intel ssd are considerably higher in price range compared to ADATA or Samsung?

Overall, as when you add data onto them, you slow down the speed at which the data can be accessed.

Also, increased risk for failure, and they add a lot of heat into the system

So an HDD is fastest when you have no data on it?

Risk for failure is always there no matter what you go with, and I have not encountered any failure with my 2 HDDs whether I went with the OS on them or having them as storage like I do now. Been running fine for 6 years now.

I would however, love to see the amount of HDDs it takes to make a notable difference regarding thermals in a mid/full tower system.
