My options:
1) NVIDIA Quadro K4200
2) Gigabyte GeForce GTX TITAN BLACK 6GB
3) Evga Gtx Titan (checking for more info on which version)
4) EVGA GTX 980 Classified
5) PowerColor Radeon HD6990 (dual GPU)
6) MSI 7970 Lightning

Those are the cards that are available, used within budget with waterblocks.

So no use suggesting other cards.

Which one of those would work best for a video editing/encoding and streaming pc?
I will be using mostly Xsplit/Obs and Adobe programs, so gaming performance is not relevant.

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

980 or Titan Black is the way to go here, probably the Titan Black to be honest. great card for whatever you are doing(except for 4K gaming and that stuff lol)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

The question is, how does the K4200 stack up to the others cards?

I mean, the Titan Black (or was it the Titan) that was more or less a Quadro card?

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

I'm really not sure. I will tell you that a 980 would probably give you better performance than a Titan and maybe a Titan black.

It seems its between the Titan Black and the Quadro K4200.

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-titan-black/specifications

http://www.pny.com/nvidia-quadro-k4200

In terms of pure specs so does the Titan Black have almost double what K4200 has.

So how much extra does the Quadro part add to the party?

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

It adds some error correction I believe.

I'm not at a level where error correction plays a huge roll. I can for the most part afford to redo it.

So if that is the only difference, the Titan Black wins.

I believe the that is the only difference. There is a techquickie on quadros though, you might want to check it out before you make your final decision.

Quadro are usually better for video editing, but I think a Titan Black would be a better choice, simply because if you have to upgrade, you can still use it for gaming, whereas the Quadro will be useless

Just to clarify, Quadros are more common in professional applications due to their better driver support in professional applications such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Maya, After Effects, Premiere, and their ability to do 10-bit color for professional video or photo editing situations.

I don't believe there is ECC VRAM on Quadro Cards, AFAIK, but I'm not sure...

For consumer applications and scenarios, a Titan Black is good enough.

So thanks for reading guys, if this post sucked, I'm not sure what you can do, but if you liked it, go 'head and hit that like button, or maybe add me as a friend. Usually people will get Quadro for CAD, Maya, Solidworks,... and professional video editors that need 10-bit color

For me I'd get the GTX980 (980 Ti if possible), its p/p is way better than Quadro even in editing

The 980 has fewer cuda cores, less Vram and less memory bandwidth then the Titan Black.

I'm not sure if memory bandwidth matters for my usage, but Vram is somewhat important when dealing with 4k video with effects, since 4k video can take 700Mb Vram easy by just watching it.

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.
