I'd agree with FX, unless you are doing mainly single threaded programs it will be faster. you can overclock it, too

Purely single-threaded tasks, i3. Everything else, FX. Plus the FX isn't that far behind the i3 in single-threaded performance.

which is gonna be better in overall performance the i3-3220 or the FX-6300? I can get them for the same exact price over on newegg.

Get Haswell Pentium and upgrade to i5 later or get i5 from the start.

I3 is dualcore with hyperthreading and is overpriced for what it offers, it's much better to jump up to a full quadcore i5.

FX has 3 FPUs and 6 ALUs, but each of them is much slower than I3's 2 ALUs and 2 FPUs. I'd say, get the i3 if you have money to burn but dont want to get i5 (which you should if you already are considering i3). It WILL be faster than FX for gaming most of the time.

But as I said, either pentium Haswell or i5 from the beginning, or get the FX 6300.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?
