I think they used -1 to prevent you from ever reaching your limit. I wouldn't sweat it. 

I don't think anyone's ever sent/received -1 messages.

yes, i know that, but it should just say that there is no limit :)

and it's going to be fixed in the next update as @colonel_mortis said
