Is a used i5 4690k for 150$ US worth?

Why did I study Haskell?

I take it you already have an LGA 1150 motherboard to go with the 4690K?

If not those are different sockets and thus will require a new motherboard.

Ok good, just wanted to make sure you weren't going to try and use it with your current motherboard xD

If you're planning on overclocking, which I'm pretty sure you are since you're getting a K sku processor, then be sure to get a motherboard with a Z97 chipset.

if you're not looking to overclock then just get a 4590 and a H or B series motherboard and it'll be even cheaper in the long run.

Nice, should be quite the improvement from your locked 2400 especially if it's a good chip.

i7 6700k - 200$

i7 4790k - 190-200$

i7 4790 (non k) - 130$

i5 4690k - 150$

Honestly I'd stick with the i5 if you're just gaming. Hyperthreading doesn't really help much at all in regards to gaming.

If you're doing other stuff like video editing or video transcoding then I'd bump up to an i7.

I would go for the i7 for 20 dollars more. That is a good jump for 20 bucks.

Xeon e5-2670, Intel DX79sr, 16gb g.skill Ares, evga sc 780ti, antec 750 80 plus gold, Phantek Entho pro case

Id rather go with this AMD CPU since it has pretty good clock speed, specially for this price, not sure about overclocking tho...

Except it has a weaker architecture to the point where GHz to GHz it cannot be compared to intel at all.

My current build - Ever Changing.

Number 1 On LTT LGA 1150 CPU Cinebench R15

Thanks abot that,i newer really got into CPUs and in a noobs perspective it looked like a steal.

Its still pretty good for web browsing exept if youre rendering videos/images id go with the i5  4690k intel chip

Ah alright. Well to put it simply, if you disable all but one core on an 8350 and on a 4670k, then put them each to the same clock speed... The 4670k crushes the 8350. The 4670k crushes the 8350 (in most games) with all cores enabled, with the 8350 clocked a bit higher. The 8350 wins in some applications, such as streaming; where tons of cores is particularly helpful.

If you're trying to learn, look into IPC. What makes CPU speed is a combination of cores, clock speed, and IPC. IPC is kinda king atm, but they're all necessary.

microcenter sell them for $200 brand new.

but if you dont live near one, sure, theyre like $240 on amazon, so if its unused $190 is decent.
