Big fan+Small heatsink VS Small fan+Big heatsink.

Im planning an ITX build with node 202 which has clearence of max 56mm cpu cooler height.

So when every mili-meters count, should you hav a big heatsink+small fan or small heatsink+big fan?

Options are:

1.noctua NH-L9i 37mm + CM sickleflow slim fan 15mm hot glued on top = 52mm

2.noctua NH-L9i 22mm heatsink only + 25mm zip tied 12cmCM blademaster = 48mm

3.cryorig c7 45mm only.

4.cryorig c7 hearsink only 30mm + 25mm 12cmCM blademaster ziptied = 55mm

5. Noctua NH-L9i only.

6. CM vortex 211p 58mm (can tightly fit by removing the case filter mash)

7. I3 stock cooler (as control).

Which would be the best combination for cooling? Planning on i5-6600k or i7-6700k OC. Guys any idea which is best?

Keep in mind that the only case fan in node 202 is mostly limited to GPU compartment. Thx

You will have heat issues with all of them. A small case with a "K" SKU and crap cooling will result in very high temps AND noise

kinda backing this one, but for a different reason:

you wont be overclocking (much) in a tiny case, so buying a K part will be a waste of money.

Would squeezing in an AIO cooler work? put the radiator and fan at the GPU side... just a thought..

The Internet is invented by cats. Why? Why else would it have so much cat videos?

kyle (awesomesauce network) did that. and while its possible, i'm not too sure about the methods used, and certainly wont recommend it.

He first cut the tubing and reconnected it but that didn't work out. Later he realized that cutting the brace in the case allowed for the tubing to be more easily routed. This is actually a rather easy mod with a dremel or angle grinder.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

but without knowing OP's abilities in terms of metalworking that's quite a dangerous thing to recommend.

while it's defenately a possible thing, its still a rather tight fit, and requires a certain kind of insanity to perform :P

Yes. A non-K SKU with the stock cooler. You're not going to get enough of a bump overclocking in that case to make the added expense worthwhile, and none of the cooling solutions you described are any kind of useful. Cryorig doesn't even market the C7 as an option for those looking for a strong overclock. They market it as a stock alternative in SFF cases.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
