255c temperature reading after power flicker

Go to solution Solved by NoShotz,

Well, first time on my computer since i made this thread, and everything seems fine, temps are normal, etc.

About an hour ago, my power went out at my house, so my computer shutdown, and once I restarted it, my temperature monitoring software was alerting me to an impossible cpu temperature of 255c. I have no idea what to do about it, as this has never happened to me before. I am currently not at my computer and it is off, but I can use all the help I can get.

On a side note, the outage seems to have broke my USB hub, but all the divices connected to it are fine.

its possible it fucked up the sensors inside so they are not reading properly

Yeah, thats what im guessing, but i don't know what effect having a broken temperature sensor will have on my performance.

none, its just a thermometer basically, it could effect automated fan speeds etc though which could have a knock on effect

Well, the sensor is in the CPU itself, so I don't think it is the motherboard, I do know my motherboard has a sensor of its own for checking its own temperature, so i will check that when i get home. Also, the GPU temps are normal for my computer, and the GPU fan speed didnt go up at that point to bring it to its normal idle of 35-40c.

both motherboard and CPU have temp sensors

i thought that was your motherboard temp since it has fan speeds right under it

I just configured the program to display info like that, it actually displays a lot more, i just hide a lot of it, and reorganize it.
