I just watched X-Men Days of Future past and I have been pondering why are there two different Quicksilvers in the Marvel universe? I know that they are in the same universe because X-Men versus The Avengers. But why did they decide to make two of them?

I didnt watch the movie, but from my understanding of me watching every other X-men movie is that, the X-men movies have been around wayyyy earlier than the Avengers Universe movies. The first X-men movie was made in 2000, 16 years ago. They have somewhat continued in that realm of the story so all the events have been going on since the first movie. The Avengers movies were started around 2007 with the Captain America and Iron Man films. I also believe they are made by different studios just like Spider Man till recently was a Sony IP, so im sure Disney does not want Fox to use their characters and vice versa.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

xmen is not technically (right now) a part of the marvel cinematic universe. as the movie rights are owned by another company and the company will not sell the xmen movie rights back to marvel. If you pay attention in the mcu they refer to mutants as enhanced as they can not say that quicksilver and scarlet witch mutants.

could you elaborate?

In the comics, the Marvel omniverse is made up of different, parallel dimensions, universes, and realities that exist at the same time. These dimensions differ from each other in various degrees. For example: In one universe, Peter Parker was not bitten by a radioactive spider, but instead, Gwen Stacy did. In another one, the Nazis won WWII. There's one where Galactus ate the Earth, etc.

All these realities and dimensions are named as "Earth-X", where "X" is a number. For example, there's a line of comic books called "Ultimate Marvel", that one is Earth-1610, the Marvel films take place in Earth-199999, Earth-6799 is the home of 1967's Spider-man (the cartoon that spawned all those memes). The "main" Earth, the one that's considered canon, is Earth-616. While these dimensions exist separately from each other, there are times where beings travel to another dimension, giving birth to crossovers.

Both Quicksilvers that you see in The Avengers and X-Men films are the same characters, but they are from different dimensions. That's the "in-universe" explanation.

I hope that answers some of your questions.

Edit:

Damn, I'm a nerd.

Yeah but what about X-Men versus The Avengers? (not an argument, just wondering.)

Those would be the Avengers on Earth-616, where the main storyline occurs. I havnt read the Avengers comics yet so dont know if they take place in that universe or another.

Linus is my fetish.
