Hey there, last days i ma comparing some CPUs, so I run accross AMD FX 6300. Checked some rewievs, so some peopple are compare it with INTELs i3 CPUs, but on benchmark base it is similar to i5 (around 6000 points). So is it i3 category or i5?

Best regards

In gaming performance and most other areas it's i3 performance... Sometimes it can't even perform as well as an i3 though.

If all 6 cores (inb4 someone tells me they are not real cores) are fully utilized, it will be around i5 4440 performance. Maybe i5 4460.

If only 4 are used, the i3 4170 often beats it.

If even less are used, the i3 4170 beats it.

These benchmark software are usually made so they can support all the cores there are, but most videogames are just not (thanks to the consoles, there is a lack of interest in recreating engines/using newer API's that further utilize more cores.. DX12 will be better with this though) making it so fewer cores that are faster often perform better than more slower cores (under 2 threads will hinder in many games though)
