Asus PG279Q - is quality getting better?

The initial reviews of the amazing ROG Swift 1440p IPS 165 Hz monitor indicated horrible backlight bleed, dead pixels, dead insects behind the panel, etc.  Basically a quality control nightmare from Asus.

My question is this - does anyone know if things have improved?  This monitor has been on shelves for 7 months and one would think the QC issues have been ironed out by now.

Thoughts?

If i remember they offered refunds and repairs, and I trust asus,

but I would think you would want to find one with a recent serial number ( maybe ? )
