This would be a good one to get, I have one and has been working perfectly for months without a reset. https://www.amazon.com/TD-8616-Downstream-Bandwidth-Lightning-Protection/dp/B0034JSYZ2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464828998&sr=8-1&keywords=adsl+modem

I wanted to replace my old wireless router (baudtec tw263r4-a0) and get better overall performace, so I bought a new one..

When it came I realised that it was a router and not a modem/router.

The router I got: TP-LINK TL-WR841N

What can I do with it? Do I have to return it?

You could buy a modem separately like the Surfboard 6121 or 6183. Then you connect the port on the modem to the WAN port on the router.

If you have an existing wired Modem you can plug an Ethernet cable into the WAN port on the new router like Lurick stated above. Then just connect all your devices to the new router so they're all on the same subnet.

get a modem separately, the TL-WR841N is a fairly good router.

I do have an ethernet (not wireless) modem/router with one ethernet port..

Can I use it as a modem and how?

What you think is a modem/router is most likely just a modem since they have a single LAN port for them to be connected to a router or directly to a device, a picture or model number would be good to confirm.

Sorry I replied so late.

I've never heard of that brand before but it is an ADSL modem/router. I would recommend replacing it, what is your internet speed?
