Hay guys my friend has a HP 15-g007dx Notebook laptop and it's hard drive broke. How do I replace it? I know how to work with normal computers however I've never messed with a laptop before (so I need to know even how to open it up properly) thanks for any help.

Grab the Windows Media Creation tool.

Run it and grab a USB.

Let it download the Windows Files and copy them to the USB.

then when it's done, go to your laptop.

Go buy another HDD or SSD (I recommend SSD) .

Once that's done, go and plug in the USB.

Make sure the computer is 100% powered off.

Turn on the computer and spam "Fn + F12" AND/OR "Fn + F2".

Once you're in the Bios, select the USB.

And then re-install Windows onto the new drive.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

1. Purchase a new HDD/SSD (Now would be a good time to get an SSD)

2. Download the Windows Media Creation Toolkit at https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10 and follow the prompts to create either a bootable USB stick or a bootable DVD.

3. Take a picture of the key sticker. This may be useful later in case you have to call Microsoft to get them to activate for you.

4. Flip the laptop over and remove the battery.

5. Unscrew the screws that correspond to the HDD's mount location.

6. Identify where the drive is, and remove the drive. Most are inside a metal bracket and slide away from the SATA connector.

7. Unscrew the screws that mount the drive to the bracket and remove the drive.

8. Mount the new SSD the same way that the HDD was mounted in the bracket.

9. Reverse the process of opening the laptop up, sliding the new SSD into place, then screwing everything back up to the way it was before.

10. Re-insert the battery and plug the laptop into the mains.

11. After the Windows Media Creation Toolkit completes, insert the USB or DVD and boot the system, tapping whatever button it is that gets you into the BIOS

12. Set the device that the Windows Media Creation Toolkit created as the first in the boot order.

13. Save changes, then reboot the machine.

14. Follow the prompts, installing Windows 10

15. After Windows comes up to the desktop, head to the manufacturer's websites for the drivers for your graphics and other on board hardware, and install the drivers.

16. *optional* head over to ninite.com for all the PC user's essential apps.

Hope this helps.
