First Gaming PC in Years - Your Thoughts Required

After being out of the PC gaming scene for years after transitioning to a MAC, i thought it was time to scratch that itch that never went away and build a new rig.

I am looking at comments for the parts that I have put together to make sure I am on the right track and everything will work well together.

My purpose for the build is as follows:

  • Try and keep it somewhat budget;
  • I won't be overclocking the CPU;
  • It will be used for gaming, but not at 4K;
  • Want to keep and clean and quite; and
  • I want it to look good.

I have probably picked some parts more to look good then to keep on budget. This 970 is a placeholder at the moment depending on 1070 pricing.

I haven't selected a monitor yet so suggestions would be welcome. I will probably run a 2 monitor setup at some time in the future but 1 is enough for now.

I am in Australia so purchases will come from places like Umart and MSY.

Looks pretty fine to me, but you might want to step down to an NH-D14 cooler, as it gives roughly the same performance as the Dark Rock Pro 3.

And if you feel like waiting for the aftermarket 1070, might as well spring for that. PSU can handle it in strides.

....

The CPU Cooler was one of the parts picked based on looks. I love it.

I will check out the PSU. Cheers for the suggestion.

Are we expecting the 1070s to come in around the same price as the current 970s??

Its an INTERESTING colour scheme for the fans on the cooler....LOL....The Dark Pro 3 comes in a push pull dual fan setup as well.

Its maybe a little too bulky for my liking as well.....Thanks for the suggestion tho.

Alternatively you can also do this build and have both mac os and win10

Just add in a gpu, swap the case and power supply!

I may be doing that for my next upgrade
