Best brands for watercooling GTX 1080

with evga's aftermarket cards not having ek waterblock support, what are some other brands that offer an alternative to the classified evga card?

Update: The classified may yet get a waterblock, though not from EK.  https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=29556138&postcount=7

Didn't the 980ti Strix have waterblock from EK? If so the 1080 Strix might in the near future. Other than that I think the Gigabyte G1 had one too.

Classifieds aren't what they used to be anymore, My 680 classified was absolute beast, overclocked like mad and was able to last me 2 generations of GPUs while still playing AAA games on max settings. My 980 classified however was just a marketing sale, because it didn't perform anywhere near as good in terms of overclocking percentage and what not.

As far as to answer your question in terms of comparison, then yes the G1 was a custom PCB and does indeed compare or not beat some classifieds depending on how lucky you are with the sillicone. The strix I think is a reference PCB? Will have to double check, but that one should technically not be as good as a classified... Then again, they are not like they used to be so who knows, it's a risk.

MSI Lightning is pretty much EVGA Kingpin level if not better, but as far as I remember there wasn't a custom block for those, by EK anyway.

Have you looked at the Asus Poseidon 980ti ?

Yeah, i have seen the Poseidon in the past, was just hoping to pick up a 1080 soon, and put a block on it. As long as it has more than the single 8 pin that the founders has, overclocking should be great under water. ill look into the G1 and strix. thank you

There really isn't a problem with a single 8-pin connector.

Rather, the limiting factor is the power delivery within the card; reference PCB is pretty "mergh" in that regard.

it doesnt bother me too much. just want a card that will last awhile, with overclocking headroom. This EVGA and EK bull shit has made my decision that much harder.

So this card will work great with EKWB waterblock that is currently avaliable.

Because it's same PCB.
