Corsair AF120 Quiet edition vs Performace edition

Hello!

Which is better, Corsair AF120 quiet edition or performance edition? I accidentally bought the performance edition and now thinking about returning them. Is it worth to do it or are these fans ok?

Thanks! :)

Quiet edition implies lower noise pollution.
Performance edition implies better cooling solutions.
So, which would you rather have?

@DioOmicida Well my plan was to build a quiet pc, I bought a soundproof case and psu that doesnt turn the fan unless in heavy usage.

I would put the fans front of my case so they would move air trough the case so would the performance editon fans be better for that?

The PE should move air more effectively which would seem temps better all around in your system but if you're wanting a silent PC then yes, you'll want the QE. The QE fans are by no means bad in the cooling department, though.

Quiet Editions are better and Performance Editions are do perform better but at a noise level that's likely too high if you care about noise. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1342-page9.html

@WoodenMarker If I change the fan spinning speed lower on the PE would the noise go down too? Because the PE noise level is at 30dBA and QE is at 21dBA.

Yes but look at the review I linked. The QE's perform better at the same noise levels.

@WoodenMarker If you meant this link: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1342-page9.html I can't find that much of a difference, just 1 or 2 dBA more on the PE at the smae spinning speed.  Either I'm stupid and dont get it or I can't read this right. (sorry)

Corsair AF120 PE                        Corsair AF120 QE

— 1,100 RPM (18 dBA@1m)       — 1,100 RPM (16~17 dBA@1m)

— 900 RPM (14~15 dBA@1m)    — 900 RPM (13~14 dBA@1m)

Did you mean by the performing that the noise level is higher but at the spinning speed on the PE?

Look at the chart. It compares noise level at the top to the thermal rise in the boxes. At the same noise level, QE's perform better. RPM isn't listed because it's arbitrary and doesn't matter.

PE's aren't extremely different but they are consistently worse and can't be as quiet as QE's..
