I was just looking at Asus LGA1150 motherboards on Amazon and I found the Asus Z97-Pro Gamer, from what I saw I really like it. Right now I am using an Asus H97m-PLUS (you can check my profile for the rest of my specs) if you look at my specs I have a mATX mobo in an ATX case so one thing it will look better but are there any other things that make it worth the price? Another question would be when I built my PC I'm using wouldn't boot into Windows from my hard drive and I had to reinstall windows and then reinstall everything on the hard drive, would I have to do that again, because it is a pain in the ass.

Activation keys for Windows are bound to the motherboard, everything can be changed except for the motherboard, and if you change that, you have to call Microsoft and say something like, "Dood, I borked my mobo, got it replaced, can you guys like, make it work agane?" xD

Thats the worst of it though.

They are tied to the motherboard, but not, I have not had an issue with my windows license key unactivating through many many different boards.

Ancdote : I used to use pro, it got deactivated, I upgraded to Education (Variant of enterprise) And now it has never deactivated.

My current build - Ever Changing.

Number 1 On LTT LGA 1150 CPU Cinebench R15

As positivePXL stated the windows license is bound to the motherboard. However it isn't the reason it wouldn't boot. Different motherboards/SATA controllers install different code onto the HDD which allows it to work with the rest of the system. This is where IDE & AHCI come into play. Sometimes switching between the two allows it to work but it's not guaranteed. Even when it does you're prone to having issues. A complete OS re-installation is recommended when installing a new motherboard. Even if you did get back into the OS. You would run into the issue positivePXL stated above. Windows would tell you that your OS is no longer genuine and that would have its own set of issues.
