Basically I was going to buy a raser blade stealth the 1,000 dollar version, but I see a ad on craiglist for an 4k model for the same price. Now I am thinking if I were to set the resolution to 2560 x 1440 instead of 4k would I get the same battery life as the normal 2560 x 1440  version?

Dude don't get a razer blade laptop, they all thermal throttle and run at 90c+ if you just use the cpu a little.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

This

Just because you set a lower resolution, the screen still has to send power to each pixel, its just downscaling to a lower resolution

it might save a small bit of battery when gaming cos the GPU doenst have to work as hard, but otherwise no effect

Desktop - Corsair 300r i7 4770k H100i MSI 780ti 16GB Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Crucial MX100 512gb Samsung Evo 250gb 2 TB WD Green, AOC Q2770PQU 1440p 27" monitor Laptop Clevo W110er - 11.6" 768p, i5 3230m, 650m GT 2gb, OCZ vertex 4 256gb,  4gb ram, Server: Fractal Define Mini, MSI Z78-G43, Intel G3220, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 4x 3tb WD Reds in Raid 10, Phone Oppo Reno 10x 256gb , Camera Sony A7iii

If you are asking using the 4k display to display 1440p, No it should not make a noticeable difference. You don't change am mount of power your screen will draw as it will remain a 4k screen. I don't know if a gpu pulls less power when it is under less load, which would make the difference.

That must be a large battery you have then :P

I mean on 2d desktop.

the only way it could save battery is from gpu doing less work rendering, but on desktop environment it would make no difference.

you could only save battery if you game at lower resolution with capped fps.

did you click the play button? Unless you are stress testing you are not going to hit the 90's

This was an interesting question so I hooked up one of my netbooks to a Kill-a-watt meter and pulled out the battery to see if changing the resolution from the max (1366x768) to the lowest (800x600) would impact the power consumption at the wall (and thus impact the drain on the battery) and the power draw is nearly the same (fluctuating between 13.3 and 13.8 on idle at both resolutions).

EDIT: And I know it is not a Razer Blade Stealth but the principal is the same.

It will hit the around the 90c with around 50% use dave lee also did a video about it, it is your money so if you want to waste it on a shitty laptop with heat and build problems, I can't stop you. I will just say that all the people I know that owns one really regrets it because the quality control is shit and the heat problem is not okay at all. (they bought them in the US.) It is not a good laptop unless you edit word and thats it. The fact that they can't even cool a 15w CPU properly, must tell you something about how shit it really is.

If you want a gaming laptop

A - Razer BS can't run games as it has no GPU
B - Razer core costs more than my wife
C - There are much better alternatives for 1000$
   -Lenovo Y700
   -Asus G552VW
   -MSI GS60/GE62
   -Dell Inspiron 7559

It is the same with the stealth, they are shit and belong in the god damn trash just like acer laptops.

Stealth is worse - the fans are SO THIN and the heatsink is SO SMALL that it just is useless to even have them in the first place
