Before i buy a new laptop

Hi all,

Im looking into getting a new laptop for work (troubleshooting vms, general windows issues, learning code and studying for my ccna) /light gaming (gw2/moba/stratergy for while im away from my main rig) and ive kinda settled on 3 laptops as my 1st gen surface pro

Originally i was looking at the 13.3" MSI GS30 shadow (the one with the docking station and no dgpu) but i decided that only having the baked in gpu wouldnt be enough and the lack of ram to power the VM's id be working with, ive come down to these:

15.6" MSI apache pro
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/156-msi-9s7-16j512-022-apache-pro-fhd-ips-26ghz-i7-6700hq-8gb-ram-128gb-pcie-nvme-ssdplus1tb-hdd-2gb

15.5" ASUS ROG GL552VW
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/156-asus-rog-gl552vw-26ghz-core-i7-6700hq-8gb-ram-256gb-m2-ssd-plus-1tb-hdd-2gb-gtx-960m-usb-30-type

14" GIGABYTE  P34g v2-CF5
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/14-gigabyte-p34g-core-i7-4710hq-16gb-(2x8gb)-1tb-hdd-5400rpm-plus-256gb-ssd-nvidia-geforce-gtx-860m-

The plan in the first place was to get a laptop without a disk drive (not used one for 4 years on a pc) and something on the 14" for under 1000gbp - but that turned out to be a lot harder than i thought.
I love the build quality of a mac, the look of the razerblade, but nothing really seems to be on the market as far as i can see.

Anyone got any nice recommendations for alternative laptops, or any thoughts on the 3 that im looking at?

I want to be getting a laptop this friday (27/05/2016)
So any thoughts or advice would be lovely :)

Avoid Gigabyte P-series

If going Asus - get the metal version, plastic one is trash

MSI is solid

Consider Lenovo Y700 and MSI GS60

The MSI looks like a good choice, but I'd also check prices for the Lenovo Y700 if I were you. Relatively the same specs and build quality, if not higher. :)
