ATH-ADG1x vs Astro a40

undelt

I currently have have astro a40's that are a few years old. Im going to get a new pair of headphones soon and was thinking of getting the ATH-ADG1x. Or just the newer version of a40's. Wich do you think is better quality for pc gaming (Sound location/footsteps). And If i get the ATH-ADG1x's will I be able to use my astro mixamp still, but with those plugged in instead?

I have both Astro A40 and Audio Technica ATH ADG1 (older model of ADG1x), and have used them both for a very long time. (ADG1 more recently)

ATH ADG1x hands down.

If quality is at all of a concern, the Audio Technica will not only offer better build quality but better sound quality as well.

They are semi-open. You can add a bit of foam to make them more closed (that's at least what you could do with my brother's pair).

I would go with the Audio Technica pair.
