For bandwidth and easiness to plug (worst to best): Vga, DVI, HDMI and the best is DisplayPort :D oh wait, that's how you asked the question...hehe

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I prefer HDMI due to how available it is.

If you were in a business environment they use VGA due to projector support.

If you want high refresh rate and high res like 4K, go with Display port.

I personally have an Asus VX239H which I love except the refresh rate.

I also have another monitor but it is kinda shitty.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

I know, but was it really that required to point out that I didn't state what display was better?

The second monitor is probably better as it has a 144hz panel which will make everything in general look more smooth :P (compared to 60hz monitors which the first one is) but if you're not into FPS games then to be honest, don't bother with a 144hz panel and just get an IPS panel.

Well just do both. IPS 144Hz.

My personal belief is that you should spend just as much on your GPU as you do on your monitor. If you are willing to spend the $6-700 on a GPU that can run 4K at 60FPS on max settings, you should at least be playing on a 1440P monitor IMO.

I am currently using this monitor and I don't have anything bad to say about it.

1080p IPS 144hz doesn't exists I'm pretty sure, he'll have to get a 1440p monitor which is a lot more expensive :/
