So should i buy "Another" 970 so i can sli or should i wait for the 1070?

if you have the budget for a second 970, you should sell your current and get a 1080

Multi video card setups are one of those things you need to do towards the beginning of the generation, because as one person put it to me, it's like getting next gen performance with current gen features.

Aside from that, there's some hassle with going SLI as well that I just said screw it and went single video card for the rest of my builds.

But how? nobody likes buying used cards... well i don't.

You'd be surprised. I put a video card on sale on Craiglist and I get something within the week.

yeah the 1070 will probably perform around the level of 2 970s in SLI if they take after the 1080, so all that performance without SLI issues.

Everyone says that they will wait for the 1080 ti instead of buying the "normal" one right now... is there any difference between the normal one and the "ti"

About 20% better performance, judging by the last high end Ti cards.

So should i wait for the ti or buy the 1080 because in my opinion the 1080 looks like a beast of a card right away.

What do you want? If you really want that 20% extra performance, then wait. If you're happy with what the 1080 offers, then get it. The whole "you should wait" game may as well start anew with "Wait for Vega." or "Wait for GeForce 1100"

If you feel like waiting another ~9 months to upgrade

should i upgrade my vodoo card now? ah no just wait for the new generation

you need performance now? then get a strong card and sell those 970

980ti going down in price already, i've seen some for 450 us bucks already instead of 600

IMO better get 1 strong instead of 2 weaker cards, and the 970 has *cough* "4" GB of VRAM

Well that's also another thing to consider. The 1070 will have 8GB of VRAM. The 970 will still be stuck with 4GB. Even if you SLI it, you're getting 1070 performance (we'll say) with half the VRAM.

Not a good thing if you plan on dabbling in VR or 4K.
