Hey!

I have been wondering to change out my 970, yet, now I do not need too, but is it worth the wait for atleast next year before getting a 1070 or a 1080?

If so, not to use the reference card, and wait for like.. Direct OC II variants or similar? :$

1000 series cards are out really soon but i wouldent upgrade if you dont need to, 970 is still great but maby pick up a 980 as they fall in price on the used market, or maby even a 980TI :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Why next year? the 1080 is coming in June, and the 1070 in July if I recall correctly

Because had my 970 for a year, might have it for another year before upgrading, allowing me to save more money atleast and await the Direct OC 2 if they're made!

Waiting is always worth it. Although both the GTX 1080 and 1070 is coming out in June, waiting would mean you will see Polaris, Vega and Big Pascal revealed, or out by the time you want to upgrade.

That being said, the GTX 970 is a solid card. Any reason you want to upgrade?

Bonus: A good time to upgrade is when your GPU cannot maintain solid 30 or 60 FPS in the games you play (with decent settings). Unless you arrive to that situation, just hold on to your money. ;)

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Well, this year and nxt year seem to.. Well, might even, strike harder on the 9xx series, due to the newer cards, I mean, I already have an out dated CPU if you see my page.

Yet not dead! But, just that I wish not to remain on medium settings for that much longer, so to say..

Friend of mine still use 780ti SLI and will keep it for another year aswell before he even begins to think about a new upgrade :o

As I said, as long as you can play games at medium or better settings, just hold on. :D

The more you wait, the better upgrade options you will get. Always. ;)
