Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is finally here!

So, I am creating this tread because I may be the first few of the people who got their Galaxy Note 3 at the Samsung Experience Store in Stratford London.

So far I have not played around with it much so I can't say much but there are a few things I can talk about now.

The screen is amazing. The device feels solid and the texture on the back is soft and epic.

One problem I have come across is that my USB 3.0 does not recognize the phone as a media device. I think Samsung will release an update to their Kies software to enable USB 3.0 to recognize the Note 3 as a media device like connecting to the USB 2.0 port does.

Alright. Now I am going to bed and play with the Note 3 more tomorrow.

xD

EDIT:

So, I have played around with my Note 3 and it is very snappy. There is no lag and the touch experience is smooth and quick.

The camera has some kind of stabilization and it really helps when taking pictures.

Taking videos at 1080p allows you to make use of stabilization but the 4K video recording does not allow stabilization. So, you will need steady hands to record super cool 4K footage.

More to come

xD

I found out that Samsung cannot guarantee my computer not recognizing my phone as a media device through USB 3.0 because my computer is not made by Samsung. This sucks, because my computer is a 3960X, Rampage 4 Extreme beast compared to what Samsung can bring to market. I hope one day Samsung does something to allow USB 3.0 to recognize my phone as a media device.

Lucky guy. I preordered, can I ask what your purchase options were. I fear they may force me into a new contract in order to get it for $300

I paid £649.00 in full, for my non contract black 32GB Galaxy note 3.

Thanks for answering, I assumed you were Canadian, We have a London Stratford also, though not an official place, More of two towns fairly close together for this country.

Pricey, but probably worth it. If I can't get a discount with re upping existing contract, It is going to be a tough decision. Lots of 1080p phones to like right now or announced. been studying Lenovo K900, Asus Fonepad 6, HTC Butterfly. Hopefully I can up grade for $400 or less then the decision is made for me. Last phone I got impatient and couldn't wait for my carrier to get the Note2. HTC EVO 3d has been flawless but I miss stylus from the PDA phone days.

The pen is awesome on this one. That air command and being able to use the pen to touch the back and menu buttons is a great thing that was missed on the Note 2. One this that is not nice though is maybe only on my model, is that the pen is very hard to get out of the slot. Apart from that pen functionality Samsung has nailed it.

How's the audio quality compared to the Note 2? Is the new side speaker a huge improvement? Any noticeable difference from the audio jack with same headphones? Any stock OS settings to tweak the sound?

Sorry, let me take a deep breath.

Phew, and grats on your new baby!

Unfortunately I am not able to compare the Note 3 to the Note 2 on sound quality because I sold my Note 2 to get my S4 and its been a while. According to numbers the Note 3 has 24bit/192kHz high-res audio support while the old generations do not. But I think that the high-rez audio support only affects the headphone users but I will come back to you with a result after testing my S4 and Note 3 with a .flac music file to see if there is a difference in speaker quality. As for the audio jack difference there is a difference between the S4 and the Note 3 using the Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium 600Ohm. The difference was great as I was shocked at the sound quality. It was like the first time I upgraded my PC speakers to Studio grade monitors.

While looking for a .Flac 24-bit music file I came across this website that explains that 24-bit music is not worth the space. I will still look for a file to test though.

I finally got my hands on a classical 24-bit 193KHz .flac music file and the sound is crazy awesome. it is not the regular sound. It is some supreme sound quality. The catch is that 1 file is over 300MB and finding that kind of quality music file is very hard.

Can I get a link to said FLAC file?

I got the file for testing from this site but they are not your typical mainstream music.

Thanks dklhs90! I'm so excited. I think my note 3 is coming Oct. 4th, can't wait! And those photos are out of this world. So is there a setting to choose the quality for pictures? Or is that just for video recording with 4k and 1080p?

The camera has the same options as the Galaxy S4 with the addition of 1 or 2 new features. It is good because the camera also has some sort of stabilization. The 1080p video recording has stabilization but the 4K recordings do not have stabilization. There is a place in the camera settings for you to choose whatever settings you want.

Never heard about region or sim locking at all. Is this in effect on carrier branded Note 3's?

Some "unlocked" units are still locked to America (North and South) or Europe.

Got mine yesterday, also bought a Shure ES215 to go with it, music playback on this phone is sweet, as good as the S4. If you're keen video geek like me, the default video player isn't at all good, use MX Player. Mine's rom Asia, there's no such sticker on it....so< I assume it isn't region locked.
