nVidia drivers keep crashing...

I have a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1

 

this mostly happens in RTS games (thats what i mostly play on pc), i noticed that it used to crash when a lot of shit would be going on in the game (too many units, massive battles) but now it crashes more and more. I recently bought Ashes of Singularity and it crashes upon start up of the game. I did several clean installs and downloaded several programs to clean out gpu files and do a clean install from there. nothing seems to work. I also downgraded my graphics settings in games to low and it still crashes. Others than a fresh install (that i plan on doing before windows 10 free upgrades ends) what else can i do without losing everything, I dont want to go through the hassles that is the rats nest of my storage solutions and settings.

try some older drivers, last few Nvidia drivers have been very buggy by all accounts.

the most earliest i remember my games crashing was around November. do you have an idea what version came out back then?

Sorry i don't....i use AMD cards these days, not had an nvidia card for since the 560s..

my 970 crashes in starcraft 2 too while stable in other games

though it was caused by the game launcher (battle net)

 

maybe try closing game launcher like battlenet or steam before continuing?

 

if that doesnt fix the issue, use an older driver like skank said, try the 361.91

i play Supreme Commander with a community based client. If i close the client then the game will also close. But its not just RTS for me, the other day Dishonored crashed a few times and Just Cause 3. But i havent played that game for a month or so.

Rollback to 362.00 or olde version.

good advice doing software re-installs........... the game and steam or  whatever service you need to run the game. does the game self patch? does nvidia have a patch for the game? ( driver )

its fine if my steam runs in the task bar AFAIK

i will do a clean install of the 300 drivers tomorrow, if that doesnt work then i will get on with a fresh  install :\ you should see how i set up my storage solution. It gives me brain cancer.

The Nvidia drivers crash only during OC or if MSI afterburner is enabled when I play AotS...

i completely forgot that i ever overclocked it. just disabled the overclock, but i dont get it because it was at a stable oc, same one luke uses in his benchmarks.

Stable OC or not does not help if Nvidia currently drops shits for drivers...

honestly, everything was fine and dandy till they updated their drivers recently, hopefully my next card will be AMD and hopefully they are better with their drivers.

Both teams has bad drivers, but at the moment I feel the same way... (AMD has improved a lot but if they are equally now or better is hard to say...)
