Not sure exactly where to put this thread..

#1 Can I use it as a boot drive? For example could I put something like DBAN on it and save myself a USB.

#2 Can I plug it into a PC and control it? For example if I made a remote for my television could I send commands from my PC.

#3 Kind of going along with question 2, could I plug it into my PC and have it do something? Like organize files, or use it as some kind of adware cleaner?

#1 Network boot drive.

#2 Socket library with UI on pc or remote access of some sort to pi.

#3 Certainly doable but you would need to put a lot of thought into an implementation as i doubt there will be anything that exists that can compile for the pi.

  • 2 weeks later...

#1 Not sure
#2 Yeah you could, but i think it would be a lot harder than just send a command over WiFi to it, to use it via PC OS you would need a robust driver. To Send it over network and/or Bluetooth you only need a program running on the Pi and on the PC.
Aside from that you can connect via SSH and GUI too, there are tutorials on the web for that.
#3 Organize files is possible, just mount the folders that you want to organize in the Pi and make a program to organize things as you want.
