True but from a gaming point of view, the APU is better but from a work/all-rounder point of view then i5 simply because you will get much better battery life...

So hello!

I have exams after phew weeks and i end school..so next school and i need laptop for school work.

So i have chosed Lenovo with full feature keyboard with these specs

AMD A10-8700P APU Quad core 1.8GHz with turbo boost up to 3.2GHz and 3MB cache

8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM

1TB 5400rpm HDD

I chosed it from my countries (Latvia) electronics store and laptop costs 500.99€ ..well about 600$ with mouse and external HDD and maybe 32GB USB flash drive

So is it enough for Windows 8.1 or 7? I don't want sluggish PC.

And i can use Linux too. Maybe Ubuntu or Lubuntu?

I am concerned about that APU becouse it may be too slow but RAM is ok.

And could i play Far cry 3 and 4 on it?(on lowest settings) and GTA 5?

The APU is fine and should be capable of playing some games on it but if you want a snappy machine, you neeeeeedddddd a SSD :/

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

can totally upgrade that, shouldn't be buying laptops based on whether it has SSD or hasn't and the amount of RAM, as those can be easily upgraded and changed
should buy a laptop only based on CPU/GPU configuration, screen size and maybe aesthetics and weight.

Look for A10-8700P benchmarks on the internet, if you're happy with it's performance then get that and add/replace SSD later

CPU: Intel i7 5820K @ 4.20 GHz | MotherboardMSI X99S SLI PLUS | RAM: Corsair LPX 16GB DDR4 @ 2666MHz | GPU: Sapphire R9 Fury (x2 CrossFire)
Storage: Samsung 950Pro 512GB // OCZ Vector150 240GB // Seagate 1TB | PSU: Seasonic 1050 Snow Silent | Case: NZXT H440 | Cooling: Nepton 240M
FireStrike // Extreme // Ultra // 8K // 16K

dont go with an amd apu they are really slow. you are not going to be able to games at your budget anyways.

i would do this:

-Lenovo B50-80, Core i5-5200U, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD - 379€ (in germany)

-ADATA Premier SP550 240GB, SATA - 56€

-Crucial SO-DIMM 8GB, DDR3L-1600 - 25€

-2,5" usb3.0 drive cage 15€

then you have got a fast laptop, an external 1tb hardrive and a 4gb ram stick for your budget.

Desktop Build Log http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/486571-custom-wooden-case-with-lighting/#entry6529892

thinkpad l450, i5-5200u, 8gb ram, 1080p ips, 250gb samsung ssd, fingerprint reader, 72wh battery <3, mx master, motorola lapdock as secound screen

Please quote if you want me to respond and marking as solved is always appreciated.

But...the iGPU of the 5200u is worse...he also wants to do some gaming on it so...

Yahhhhh, sorry that's what I basically meant :D (buy a SSD and upgrade it for it to be snappy)

the igpu's in the 14nm intel cpu's are pretty good. the apu wont be much faster while not having an ssd, beeing slower on the desktop and consuming more than double the power. also the keyboards on the lenovos are pretty good!
