So me not paying any attention to the tech world I didn't realise Nvidia would come out with such monster cards at really good prices.

My issue is that I've literally only just got a PC that came with a 980. I have a 2 week window to return it but that would mean I'd have to return the whole PC as it was pre-built. Would you recommend that I do that to get a 1070?

Some of my concerns are that the 1070's will run out of stock and I'll have to wait a while.

I'd have to buy the 1070 separately meaning building my own PC. I'd teach myself but I have no idea what's compatible.

Any help is appreciated!

Don't worry about compatibility. You have an entire forum to help you there. If you don't mind waiting, like @Moonzy said, return it, the 1070 comes out on June 10th, just keep that in mind.

I'm about to pull the trigger guys!!! I need one last boost of confidence to make my decision. The PC is literally sitting on my bed and I don't know what to do haha. Here's a partpicker list I made when I was prepared to build my own PC but then changed my mind. Swap the AMD card for the 1070 and it will be about £20-40 cheaper. Is this a good build? I'm only willing to spend a little over £800.

I think the 1070 will be more expensive than the 390. There are plenty videos that show you what to do.

Well if you do a straight conversion. I'm in the UK so $379 is £262.64 Of course it might not be that exactly but should be close enough shouldn't it?

Oh. So 20% tax here so it will be about £315.16...

What was the 970 when it just came out in your country, add a little more to that.

According to PC advisor the 970 was £259 when it released. So you think it'll be even less than my £315 guess?

about 300£ then.

Only £20 more than the 390 then? Not too bad hey? On par if not better than the Titan X isn't it for a 1/3 of the price.

I would take everything Nvidia says with a grain of salt. ;)

So do you think I'm better off keeping the PC I just got or return it? I value your opinion.

The PC in my room now:

Intel Core i5 6500 (3.2Ghz)

16GB Kingston DDR3 RAM

MSI Nvidia GTX 980 OC Edition

1 TB HDD

600W PSU

Win 10 Home (64-bit)

Or return the latter and wait a month for this (With 1070)

Have you had any experiences of high profile launches of GPU's before? Do they sell quick and what date would you guess they would be available if they are due to release on the 10th june?

I bought the 780 ti the day it came out, but there are not that many that buys the ti version. I know that you will have to be fast to get a 1070, because of what Nvidia says about it.
