I'm trying to get shadowplay to work on my friends laptop. It shows the fps but the little icon in the corner of the screen that tells you if it's working never shows up. Also I can't click the box that allows desktop capture. Dose anyone also have problems with shadow play not working.

Make sure that laptop has the GPU which supports Shadowplay because i have seen youtube tutorials about running Shadowplay on non-supported GPUS and that ends up showing only FPS but it didnt worked.

If that laptop GPU supports Shadow play then try changing the Game resolution to fullscreen or fullscreen Windowed. It will show that capture icon on bottom right of the screen.

Ryzen 5 3600 | MSI B450 Tomahawk Max | Corsair Vengeance lpx 32gb 3600mhz | EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING | XPG Core Reactor 850w

I once had an 860m in my alienware alpha. No matter what I did, it wouldn't record desktop or games until I did this.

1.Go to regedit(Press [Win key + r] then type 'regedit' )
2.and then look for this registry [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\ShadowPlay\NVSPCAPS]
3.Look for DwmEnabled and DwmEnabledUser
3a.On some notebooks the DwmEnabledUser won't be there so create one by going to edit>new>Binary value
4.The value data of both of them will be something like this "00 00 00 00" delete the whole thing and change that to "01 00 00 00"(Don't add the spaces, it will add automatically.)
5.You are done ,

Should I use the beta drivers? I am using the newest drivers as of yesterday.

not the driver, is the GFE version lol

but then the desktop capture should work even if its the older GFE

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Can OBS record?

Yes. U can also customize the whole recording screen. Where u want your, lets say webcam, to show on the screen. And other cool things if u really wanna get down and dirty.

Works very well for an open source free application, i am still very impressed with it.
