sorry i missed the post. point taken, thanks.

i am also still looking for different components

6100 or i5 2400 would smash the q9650, it's high end, but it's 8 years old.

Hello everyone.

I found a Q9650 + Asus P5Q Deluxe + 8GB of Corsair XMS DDR2 memory used bundle for 190 eur (220 usd).

I'm not really up to speed with this generation of cpus.

Is this a good value or i could get the same performance within the same budget with new parts?

The system will be doing light work, netflix, some web developing, eventually gaming when i can afford a good card (would be getting a cheap one to go with this bundle).

Thanks, Andrea.

Thats a terrible deal, this should be around $140 max imo. For used part, search more.
You can easily get CPU+MOBO+RAM  ( i5- 2500, Intel mobo, DDR3 Ram 4GB ) under $180.

i know, i remember drooling over that board a few years back when i was building my first custom system

i can't find many comparisons, i'm quite sure that i can fit a X4 860K + good board + 8 gigs of ram within the 190 eur range (cpu is 80, 110 for the rest)

but i was wondering if that cpu had some good potential to push higher performance for the price.

i can get the i3 for 120 eur + the board for 70 and the ram for about 38 so that's 228 or 260 USD.

i can do that, still wondering about cpu potential (i recall it was a very high end chip)

i can get that, well almost that the deal im looking at has only 4GB of RAM but basically that for $50 so i would say its a total crap deal

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Hello again. I've been thinking about this and i come up with a different solution.

I was waiting for my bonus in July to assemble a new system but some work came up that requires me to have a desktop ready (i've being going with only a surface 3 base model since october, going crazy).

So my first idea was to get something togheter from used parts.

On second thought, i think i'll assemble a new system so that i can sell it right after i get an actual performance build in the summer.

I've come up with the following

BitFenix Nova  - 38 eur

Enermax Naxn 450w -43 eur

Asus H110m-k -61 eur

Pentium G4440 -65 eur

Stick of 8GB DDR4 2133 -37 eur

Sandisk Z400s 256GB -62 eur

I have a scythe mugen 4 pcgh heatsink and i was thinking of leaving it passive on top of the pentium and installing the 2 slipstream 120mm 800rpm fans in the front of the case... or would it be too much heat to dissipate passively?

So, i would appreciate your thought! Thanks :)

Sorry, total for the build is 306 euro (350 usd) and i still have to fit a monitor within 450 eur max (what i can spend right now).
