I checked out Discord and they actually have a really nice UI. I didn't test out the performance with chat since I have no friends :-( but overall I liked the overall feel of the software. What are your thoughts of it? Is it good? Is it another clone? If there is something better please put it below.

It's alright, the main feature of it, is that it is free. I personally prefer Teamspeak though.

For just voice comms, i would recommend/use Discord, rather than Skype though.

Audio quality isn't quite as good as teamspeak, and neither are the permissions, but it's very easy to use and not too bad in terms of voice quality. It's a clear step-up from Skype. Overall, I really like it.

Edit: The mobile client is fucking fantastic.

We've been slowly migrating to it in PONG to try out instead of teamspeak, and it's been fantastic for us thus far. We've had issues with getting voice working for us (there are a lot of us), but so far text capabilities have been great, you can do stuff like embed images and video links, emoji, tag people or groups of people or everyone in the channel, which is awesome for announcements. Lots of admin stuff you can do on a server as well. Mobile app is fantastic and free. We don't quite have voice chat working for us yet, but once we get that resolved with testing and working with support we'll probably see a lot more people switch over to it from teamspeak. Even without voice right now it's awesome as a way for everyone to keep connected, kinda like a modern IRC channel.

its great.  did some minor tests with my friends, and there seems to be VERY little delay.  Like, in ms rather than seconds, like Skype.

Its good as you can quickly invite others to your discord channel too.  It was a little glitchy at first, but after some updates, its been running pretty smooth.  No need to 'call to add', or call host to add people, or any of that crap skype stuff.  If you're running skype, i would switch off it asap, as its shitty in comparison.  If you want something better, teamspeak is good.  But free, good UI, and everything, discord is good.

Also, you can create your own 'channel' and manage it.  What i mean by that is, you can move people to different sub-channels, mute people, kick, ban people.  So, its nice that even on a free platform, you can do such things.  Skype is a little different on that, since whoever starts the call, owns the call, and it gets annoying when your always getting 5 people + up and running
