Pro Tips on how to align a bent NHD-14?

i dropped my PC and bent my beloved Noctua cooler and I'm wondering if anyone knows a way that will successfully bring this back to factory looking

Bend it back with your hands or whatever else makes it easier for you. 

Keep in mind you risk damaging it by trying to bend it back.

Doing it by hand, or maybe with a vice and pliars? Be careful, though.

Worried about damaging the heat pipes, i'll probably take it out of the PC, mount the backplate to it and try to bend it back, it still performs normally as far as i can tell, but i really hate to see it like this.

I feel like they would have had a higher chance of being damaged by a sudden bend like when you dropped then just applying pressure to "slowly" bend it back.

Of course, now it was like a 1ft drop not lift height, but i still feel incredibly stupid about it.

 

its just the fact that it bent this way and still works, im worried it might kink a heatpipe or something. You can only bend metal so many times.

I was considering using a torch to heat up the pipes but im not sure about the effects of that.

The metal is no where near losing it's strength due to over bending, you would have to do it a lot. At the end of the day it is still a heap of metal that will still conduct heat and isn't going to suddenly cause overheating, especially with the size of the heatsink.

My guess is the metal didnt get bent and it simply twisted in the socket.

It looked to me that it was still making full contact, and it still cools effectively.

my 212 wiggles around a bit in the socket
