Hey there DrMacintosh :)

There should be guides for all models on how to remove the drive. The device should be featuring a regular 3.5" SATA drive and should be able to be used on a regular computer as long as you can read the file format of the drive. Otherwise you should be able to easily reformat the drive and re-purpose it as a regular one.

Ok, so I have an old 4th Generation Apple Time Capsule, which I have since replaced with a Linksys WRT 1200AC router. It has a server grade 2TB HDD in it and I was wondering if it would be possible to take it out- format it- and install it in my current system as a backup drive (I currently have no backup drives). As far as I know its a standard HDD. The Time Capsule is well out of warranty (its over 4 years old, duh), and the device has a power supply issue I think [(if power fails it takes hours before it will turn on all the way)(the fan would turn on and the HDD would spin, but the LED would not turn on, indicating it functions)]

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
