Hello there!

One of my frined has bought an Acer laptop which worked fine for 3 months, until after a windows update he couldn't connect to the wifi anymore. The icon on the bottomleft says its connected, no weird issues there, in the control panel, network settings, states it is connected and the wireless connection has been established, everything looks fine.

However if he tries to open firefox or skype, steam, etc. It displays the tipical "no internet connection" error.

He hasn't fiddled with any of the network settings, he only reseted the router and plugged in a simple usb wifi adapter that he had laying around. Even with the adapter installed and fully working, he still has this issue. (everything seems fine but applications not getting any internet)

He went ahead and disabled windows firewall just in case.

He tried different networks.

He even came over to my house to make sure. I got internet, he didn't.

I can't imgaine what could possibly be the problem.

I though you guys might be able to help.

did he try reinstalling the network drivers?

did he try doing a windows clean install the proper way instead of the upgrade?

Hello, I'm the friend with the trouble.

Yes, I did reinstalled the driver.

No, I have not yet reinstalled windows. Yet.

Laptop model is Acer Aspire V5-591G-579G.

No, I could not ping it. It's trying to load it. (I tried it with my desktop PC, and I could ping with it however)

EDIT: I could ping my laptop from the desktop PC and vice versa.
