Hello there

I am planning to buy an Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard, but I do not have enough money to the CPU+MOBO for another few months, but I have enough for the MOBO

I was wondering if there was a way to tell if the motherboard is functional without needing a CPU installed.

Thanks

Callum

Don't buy it until you can afford both, the price will probably go down by then.

dont do this

save up until you have all the money and buy everything at once

it is completely pointless to buy a motherboard and have it sitting around doing nothing

then if you get your CPU and its faulty you cant return it

Why not just wait? There's no reason to have a board taking up room and burning up  warranty time

Besides without ram and a cpu you cant test the mobo

Well I just wanted to now if there was a way to tell if the MOBO works without a CPU. Right now I have an $75 rebate card that expires in two weeks

I also have the RAM. All I am still saving for is the CPU and GPU. Everything else I have.

Look for what you really need IE, ATX or MATX or ITX? then what will you think you could use for example your case will it have a 3.0 USB and other stuff. Then if your set in stone buy a Temporary CPU like G4400 and Overclock that sh*t just remember to look what bios version support the overclocking.

if you cant fork out a few more extra dollar i suggest that use the $75 for other stuff, but they are right don't but a MoBo with out a CPU. and remember the RAM will be a DDR4 not DDR3.

Here check this but if your RAM is not DDR4 Purchase what you like they are so many types of ram but i would suggest if going for a new Build go with 8GB Single Stick or 16GB 8x2 Dual Sticks.

Price will be dependent in your budget.

I know what I need and have got it figured, I just wanted to get a mobo soon as I have a hefty rebate to use on one, and I have had my empty motherboard tray staring at me for months, while almost everything else is ready to go
