why would this be bad practice?

because motherboards use different drivers

so if you dont clean install there will be drivers there that are specifically for your old GPU, or old motherboard, and that can cause errors or sometimes the OS simply wont work

some people do go spend hours trying to uninstall all the old drivers and installing the new ones for the new motherboard (so that stuff like internet, sound etc... work properly)

a clean install is easier and makes sure 100% of everything is up to date

So if i just make sure i uninstall everything, it'll be a-ok? Cause i got a lot of shit in my drive i dont wanna reinstall, and i cant back it up

done it before. yes it works. there are people with mobile ssd's with a ton of drivers installed so they can put it into any pc and use their own OS.

i would still do a reinstall because it will be cleaner and faster. its generally a good idea to do that after 2-3years. windows is just an unstable mess

not always, sometimes you cant boot into windows to remove the drivers in the first place

the fact that you "got a lot of shit on your drive" should be a good hint that its time for you to do a clean install

it will speed up your system a lot and get rid of all the errors you are probably having

all you need is a second HDD to move the stuff to while reinstalling, and HDDs are cheap

What i mean by lot of shit is my programs and 'movies', that sort. I'm not actually having any errors, im just gonna upgrade CPU and mobo.
