It's probably the meter then, as far as i can see it's trying to add something to something else that doesn't exist.

It is a script that lacks a specific property so for that reason i'm blaming the meter.

I can be wrong tho, i'm not a pro-modder :D

Hi Guys,

I'm having problems

I use nexus mod manager for fallout 4 mods.

My game seems to crash to desktop out of the blue :(

I read about enabling logs, and all i get is this. No clue what to do with it, or what is causing it. Just says vm is freezing. (attached log file)

Nexus mod manager makes sure that mods don't have conflicts. So I don't understand how anything can go wrong? :(

Heeeeelp

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

Wow thanks! I'll try disabling it, and see what happens!

Do you maybe have something that's related to heal companion or something?

Also something workshop related isn't happy, not sure what it is tho.

And i think the commonweath spawns extendor isn't happy, it spits out problems, it's possible the game would be fine because it doesn't look like it will cause any crashes, but it's clearly not perfect.

Nope nothing to heal companions :o
Hmm a lot of weapons and workshop stuff is added, hard to say what it might be. I honestly have no idea. Everything I install I check if it overwrites something, and why.

No crashes so far after i disabled affinity meter haha :D

I wouldn't worry about it then and enjoy the game.

But don't be suprised if the game decides to crash for no reason, some mods are unhappy and could cause issues, but for now i wouldn't worry and enjoy.

No, the Modmanager dont make sure there arent conflicts. It only loads the Mods in order you installed them.

Check your Mods with LOOT and FO4Edit.

If you're going to mod Fallout 4, I suggested getting LOOT (Load Order Optimisation Tool)
It will show the suggested load order, and if there are any conflicts or missing files.

It's a life saver http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5310/?

But does Load order even matter in fallout 4, when you use Nexus Mod Manager?
you just decides which conflicting file is overwritten (For example patching a mod) then you're golden, right?

Or maybe I could've misunderstood it all.

I know in fallout new vegas days, load order was critical, because mods just said conflicts, and load order determined which ones are loaded last (therefore overwrite the previously loaded files).

Load order matters in basically every game you're going to mod.
I have a heavily modded Fo4, and had a few mods purposely point out where they need to be allocated.

Also, I'd like to point out that NMM does not necessarily put mods in the correct load order, nor does it get very deep into showing you if a mod

is missing a critical file, but LOOT will.
It also won't tell you if an overwritten file has made another unstable.

Lots of people on any TeS mod communities don't particularly like NMM as it's barebones and isn't as good as other mod organisers.
That said, it's still my go to, but I use it in conjunction with other programs.

I just use it cause it's simple! You just click download, like a shopping cart, then install. DONE. It takes care of everything.

So I should use this LOOT program beside it, to control load order?

I'm confused. How should I do it, so that I reduce bugs/conflicts significantly, but also have a very easy / seemless experience?

I use NMM and Loot and im happy tehy exist god damn it! I had to manually mod FO3 so be grateful you have suck luxuries.

Seriously though you can run all the support utilities in the world and it still might not be perfect in reguards to knowing if your game will be stable or not.

Your best bet it introduce one mod at a time and play for about 30 min before introducing another one...and if at all possible  in your boot up try to test the mod at least a bit..hwen you finally run into a crash remove that mod. Yes this is time consuming but frankly it ends up usually being faster anwyays ..

I usually do 5 at time time and test some specific circumstances

Does it load the menu?

Does it render 3d graphics?

Does it Render graphics/load properly when you load an indoor environment?

Does the game still function after the hand holding intro?

I recommend making a save right at the beginning of the game, right at the end of the tutoral and right at the entry to some building in the main game to quickly test these parameters

Even taking all this care it wont guarantee that you still wont get a mod conflict down the line. Thats just the nature of modding take it or leave it.

Basically I can play the game no problem.

Intro and everything.
I started a new game to get a "clean save", but it didn't really help.

Crashes still occur. It happens randomly at different things.
Sometimes working in workshop, sometimes running in wilderness, sometimes in interiors.

No warning, just like you suddently do ALT+F4 on the game xD

Maybe I should try loot. Is it easy to use?

it could just simply be the base game. Beths rpgs are not known for being stable.

when I played skyrim I installed shit about 5-10 mods as a time did my testing afterwards I found out about loot and let it sort for some optimisation ..ignored all iots additional mod errors it threw up since it was stable enough.

but ya I will be straight up I can dedicate an entire day to modding a beth RPG..there is no quick fast way to get it done between downloading, reading docs and testing. the only quick way is to run as few as possible.

Hmm... I think i'll live with crashes once an hour or two xD
I have save settings set to 5 mins anyway, so will only lose 5 mins of gameplay typically. Even less as I use quicksave a lot xD
