So how bad is RF radiation? I was in a parking garage with cell tower bar things on it and it had warnings all over saying not to stand by it. I have also heard stories of seagulls being cooked and popcorn popping. Don't call me a tin foil hat wearer as California is banning all WiFi networks and only using wired or very low powered networks. Obviously 2.4ghz or 5ghz at milliwatts is tiny but 6ghz at 900watts is a microwave, that can kill you in a second. So say a cell phone tower is built in the middle of a populated town and is pumping out a bunch of frequencies from 900mhz to 5ghz at  10-50 watts. So how bad is it being within 1500 feet from it? I know it is safe amounts but constant really adds up.

Just keeping this here as a Radio Frequency CAN be dangerous.

 

It won't give you cancer, though.

 

What it can do, is heat the liquid in your body, and cook you to death though. Example - A Microwave works on Radio Frequency (A similar one to WIFI in fact - just around 2.5 GHz). The difference between safe and dangerous is power. If you're standing right beside a high powered cell transmission tower, or a long range Microwave transmitter, it could be dangerous. But any dangerous areas are clearly marked and off limits to random passers by (At least, if they are following safety codes).

 

I would not be worried about being in a parking garage with cell boosters, or even cell towers on the roof. You'd have to stand right beside them before it got dangerous.

It wasn't on the roof they were on the side of the building and I could literally reach out and touch them. I was also thinking since they are so far up in the air and aren't directed towards the ground you should be fine. Also the whole sin 1/4th power thing. So would your cellphone be more dangerous? At 1-2 watts inches from your brain?

Microwave ovens and cell phones emit radiation differently.

 

Microwave ovens radiation is collimated.  Cell phones and cell phone towers are dispersed in all directions.  This makes cell phone radiation drastically weaker with distance.  If you were to approach one that happened to be continuously outputting constant 2.5 ghz radiation (unlikely) you might feel warmer as you got close to it, but its not like you cant react to any gradual change in temperature.

 

Cell phone radiation is way way too weak to heat up your body.

 

Cell phones will never cause cancer, will never cook you.  It only kills by distracting people while driving.

Yagi antennas are directional RF antennas. Used a lot in HF radio operation to transmit great distances. Active radar systems can also directional, and the amount of power produced by them would make you toasty pretty quickly.

Wow nice two people saying the complete opposite. Also if you water in you cells heat up by just a little they die and release a toxin saying they died. They're not saying the complete opposite. They're saying there are varying degrees of danger and types and ways of transmitting the non-ionizing radiation. A Military Grade fixed Radar Dish on the coast could kill you. A small transmitter on the side of a garage cannot.

 

Also, about the microwave, you're drastically over exaggerating the risks of a Microwave Oven with the door open. Microwave Ovens lose power drastically over distance, so even a few feet away from it, you likely won't feel anything at all. Even if you stood right in front of it, it would still take several seconds for you to feel any heat at all, and you would become discomforted long before it was enough to kill you.

 

I suppose if someone kidnapped you, tied you to a chair right in front of an open microwave oven, and turned it on, yeah, it might kill you eventually. But that's pretty far outside the normal circumstances (And microwaves generally have at least 3 independent safety controls so you cannot turn it on when the door is open or missing).
