Im looking to move up from 1080p. Seriously thinking of the ASUS MG279Q, will I have any issues pushing this with my rig?

Just look up 390 1440p benchmarks, and that is what you should expect. It'll definitely be harder to runs games at that res though going forward, if you don't upgrade. It's fine for the current games though.

Unless you have an excessive case of the pc masterrace, and try running everything at ultra, you will be fine. 290x isnt far off my card, and while I have to tone down some settings to get a constant 60fps, it isnt enough to detract for the experience.

It would be the next logical upgrade for me. Ive had this monitor (ASUS VG236H 1080p, 120Hz, 2ms) for 4 yrs now, in that time ive upgraded my GPU's several times.

Besides the MG279Q, what other 1440 IPS monitor should i consider?

The 290 series was never made for 1080p, they were designed for WQHD and WQXGA screens. (2560x1xxx) screens
