So i recently bought a Intel i7 4790k, MSI Gaming 5 motherboard and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo for cooling.

I have been installing Arma 3 mods from AM3 Launcher and my CPU is under a load of 45-50% and my temps vary from 35-61 Degrees..

Is this normal, is my cooler working, did I mess up on thermal paste?

I'm really confused and scared I messed up :/

60ºc is perfectly normal under load for stock speeds, if it's overclocked then that's VERY good.

Yeah i used the pea method as i thought that was the best way of doing it to get an even spread, maybe my fan speed is too low at 600 rpm.

If it helps give you a frame of reference, my 4790K consistently peaked at 61-64C during stock speed and voltage stress tests. I had a Cryorig H7 on it at the time, which is roughly equivalent to a 212 EVO in terms of performance.

If you're really worried about it, removing and reseating a cooler isn't too much of a pain in the nuts to do unless you used way too much paste initially, but it doesn't sound like that's the case. Not only will you put your mind at ease, but you'll also get to see the spread pattern and adjust your paste application if necessary.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

You're fine up to 80-90c at load. 60c is low.

Ambient temps play a big part in cpu temps, so it would help to know those, for example at 20ºC that's not so bad, but at 0ºC those are huge. If your cpu fan is locked at 600 rpm that'll limit your cooling potential, best to use a fan curve that way when you get to 80ºC or so it can ramp up to full speed to keep it from having to throttle to keep temps down. Also run realbench or linpack/intel burn test to put it on full load, they'll push your cpu harder than almost anything you're bound to do, and that will show you the limits of your cooling potential, and from that you can figure out if there's an issue.
