There are options to run 2 users on 1 pc at the same time, I think the resources run on an as needed basis

Let me clarify If i hook up two thunderbolt docks to a machine (2 because the gaming pc is going in a rack case with my home lab)  Could i designate the thunderbolt port to VM1 (me) and thunderbolt port 2 to VM1 (my wife)  or is this a bad idea for X reason.

@Redwulf I am aware there are options seeing as how i referenced them running 7 VMs of gaming quality off 1 pc.

However I have not seen anyone try and do anything like this with thunderbolt docks similar to how Linus set up his home PC

This is much more of a pain than it seems. Id just buy a 300 dollar laptop and be done with it. When running vms you get lots of annoying small problems, like not having hotswap usb. You can probably passthrough a thunderbolt dock as its just a pci device, but just buy a cheap desktop for less than that dock.
