Hello guys take a look at this: http://wccftech.com/nvidia-pascal-gtx-1080-8gb-1070-launching-summer-debut-april-gtc-2016/

Should i go for 980Ti  or its worth waiting for GTX1080. Also what do you think will it outperform 980Ti?

Is it worth at all to wait for the new generation?

I think it's worth the wait because it's been 5 years since they have change the Nanometer process chips are made at. Developers have been working with this architecture for a long time.

Weather it's super powerful or not, some new things will come of this new architecture.

Also they're introducing HBM VRAM. Which means more VRAM for extra large textures needed for impressive 4K and VR gaming.

I suggest you wait.

tbh id wait, if theres a gpu conference chances are something gonna come out, wait for reviews and benchmarks then make a decision, pascal is rumored to be quite powerful so chances are its gonna outperform the 980ti

I'd wait for Polaris and Pascal... They really are only 2 months away.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

The bad thing is i dont have computer :D

At the moment i am using stone age laptop and i am unable to do anything, but to watch movies and videos on it.

Maybe i buy all my other parts, but the GPU and wait for Polaris/Pascal and get myold ass GPU from my 2000 computer and if its possible put it for temporary.

Well if it's not necessary wait for everything because even Broadwell-E might be released which will mean:

- new CPU's

- new GPU's

- price drops in both former CPU's and GPU's

8gb can be done on GDDR5. Heck, it already is. HBM is great b/c bandwidth

Build now and use a 270 or so for now, I would say. If the 1080 outperforms the 980ti you gain perf at a lower price point (price of a 270 should balance it out) with HBM and lower temps etc. etc. If it's equal you lose the time between now and then, and considering that the 270 is a huge step up from what you have had it should still be pretty great to use.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

Yeah but there's rumors of a 32gb card. This will probably be a titan.

Still we have no idea what's in store. I can imagine some super high textures for VR though.

But nobody needs 32gb for gaming right now. I have no doubt that it is coming for HPC where VRAM is incredibly important, but for gaming it's not a huge selling point.

Actually, the 32Gb will be a Tesla P100 and Quadros.

Titan would have at best 16GB HBM2.

1070 and 1080 for sure will still be on GDDR5, or with luck GDDR5X.

I completely agree for most of that (and haven't been following GDC b/c of heavy workload so there might be definitive word against) but could see the Titan going up to 32GB if it has the high precision compute that the original did. Also, for some reason NVidia has, historically, put stupid amounts of VRAM on Titans (even without the compute perf for some reason) so some engineer could totally be having a field day right now with HBM just stacking more and more onto the card. I think GDDR5X is pretty much guaranteed considering that Polaris will be using it and that a GDDR5 controller only requires minor modification to work with GDDR5X.
