Computer for light gaming and school work?

1. Budget & Location

600 Canadian Rupees, Located in BC

2. Aim

Some accounting work and some light gaming... With some chances of that turning into heavy gaming

3. Monitors

Won't need any

4. Peripherals

Nah

I think that should be it right?

I'd prefer Intel/Nvidia hardware as that's what I've been using personally, at this price point perhaps it's not the best idea though...

That's what I could come up with, if 30 dollars off budget is too much for you drop to a R9 270/R7 370.

i3 + 250 is about the best you're going to be able to get without seriously cutting into the budget in some places, which isn't going to be worth it for the long run, the PSU here is already rather sub par, but it seems to be the best bet for canada given what I saw on the part picker, it's not going to be stressed very hard anyways.

there's also not much reason to buy most mid range nvidia cards since maxwell seems to lack proper DX12 support

400W XFX XT comes from seasonic and is a bit cheaper, lacks in the wattage, but you won't be needing it in this price point anyway.

Edit: You can even try the Antec earthwatts green 350W, even less wattage but still enough for low end GPUs, but this leaves little to upgrade (unless the efficiency claims of the next gen GPUs are true)

Most of the XFX stuff comes from seasonic, but the XT line is sub par overall

Wait it might be worse than I thought, might be that the review samples were of higher quality than the ones people were buying

Maybe the earthwatts green 350W, seems enough for a 950/R7 250.

You can fit a 750Ti without getting much out of budget as well.

Would probably be better off with a 360 for proper DX12 support

really he'd best off probably waiting for AM4 to drop, which should be soon, and just run with a DDR4 APU which should be about as capable as the entry level cards for gaming. 600 CAD is a pretty low budget

Yeah AMD would push intel to finally release something unlockable under 200 dollars that is not a dual core, or maybe even release it themselves.
