External SSD - Samsung Evo 500

warmmilk

So I have an external ssd that I use for big video files (200ish GB) for editing transferring between different computers (mine and other peoples. The SSD was originally setup on a Mac, I believe it's exFAT format.

My pc (win10) can read it when it's connected through usb with one of them usb to sata/power adapters. But the connection is spotty, for some reason it times out once in a while. So I tried to connect it directly through sata and power like my system drives, but then I can't see it at all, it doesn't even show up under disk management.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get it to work directly through sata?
