FX is ok for budget builds. Though I'll see if I can get an i5 in there for under 800

I'd rather stick with the large PSU for upgrades. I'd also like to keep his SSD. As for the processor, Sure, the AMD one is currently better but it doesn't offer many upgrade paths. He doesn't really need 16 gigs of ram, all he wants to do is play modern titles and do a little browsing.

I guess the important question is what is his actual budget? 800? 900? 1000? Title says 800 but the list you linked is 922

I was going to keep it under 800, but 900-1000 will get you a more performance and room for upgrades

As I said in the disc, his parents are buying the monitor, and I only want 10 over, which he was OK with.

In that case, the part list you have is probably the best bang for your buck

 

I would recommend getting a Samsung 850 Evo 256 GB SSD instead of the ADATA one, since the ADATA uses TLC flash, which degrades faster than MLC flash.
