Note: I'm not going to buy this or any other build, I just wanted to make this thread just to see what would you choose if you'd have Exactly 1250$

You don't have to make it a gaming system. Make it a workstation, make it full atx or mini atx, make it however you'd like

this is what I would choose:

CPU:  Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($279.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler:  Thermaltake Water 2.0 Performer 81.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($59.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard:  Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($114.99 @ Microcenter)
Storage:  Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card:  Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card  ($279.99 @ Newegg)
Case:  Corsair 350D Window MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($79.99 @ Microcenter)
Total: $1251.42
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
(Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-09-18 10:24 EDT-0400)

Let's say that you already have an OS, peripherials and a monitor, but if you really want to, ad to the buget another 450$ and ad a monitor, a mouse, a keyboard, a headset and a monitor, and if you want, a sound card, but whitout all these things try to keep it 1250$ :)

What about you?
I choosed this buget just because I think that's the sweet spot for building a pc

I thought to post this in the new builds and planning but I changed my mind because I don't think that "it meets the requierments"

AMD Athlon X4 750k; Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2; 8Gb Corsair XMS 1600 Mhz; AMD Hd5670 1Gb DDR3; Bequiet E6-600W; W7 Ultimate x64

#KILLEDMYWIFE                                                                                                                                                                                                                         so miner; very doge; much value

Dell Vostro 5470: i5 4200U Nvidia GT740m 2Gb 14" 1366x768 Kingston V300 120Gb

This is more like a build for someone who is 12 years old and thinks $1000 is a lot of money. My dream build would be at least 12k+.

I agree $1250 isn't a dream build for the majority but saying you would need at least 12k is stupid

I used a sapphire video card and you a msi one. The price difference is about $80. the performance difference would be of maybe 1-2 fps

My dream build comes close to £20k when you include peripherals...

How what parts do you get and what would it be used for

If I had 1.2k, I wouldn't  put a new system together. I'd upgrade my graphics card to one from AMD's upcoming Hawaii GPUs, add one of Corsair's newest PSUs 650w, a Prodigy M, that crazy looking Zalman cooler with the nanoliquids, a USB/DAC combo, a 1TB storage drive since I need it and probably upgrade SSD to a 240GB one. :)

Just imagine throwing half of that for surround 4K monitors and one 1440p monitor for gaming. Then 4 Titans of course and a 4960X with 64GB RAM. 2TB of SSDs and some 4TB WD Blacks in RAID 1. That Caselabs case for $500, AX1200i (Not sure if it's enough, if not then Enermax Platimax 1500W), and of course a custom loop worth at least $1000.

And then getting that same uber level of performance a few years from now at a general consumer price tag. Such is technology.
