Is it normal for a AMD XP 3200+ at 2.20ghz to run at 65°c in the BIOS?! I picked up a COMPAQ with that CPU for fifty cents, yes! Fifty cents!

At a local thrift shop, and it just seemed a little hot, but, I don't really think the system cares, since the fan runs really low even at high workloads for such an old CPU...

Also, I got the PC because I already had one of the same model running lubuntu, xubuntu, and windows XP in triple boot.

maybe just remove the old thermal paste and reseat the cooler with fresh stuff. 65°C is quite high

I am using Intel cpus but 90°C seems a bit much?

it's fine for shorter periods of time, some people even do this on the long term.

Anything under 90c is fine.

60c or lower is best but 70c is what I want as maximum yet some CPUs will handle 90c! :D

Athlon XP's are quite hot (U have a 180nm one ?).
Also, they DO NOT have IHS, so be REALLY carefull when taking on/off cooler on this thing.
