snake oil 120 hz TV as monitor

numbaname

Suppose I go and buy one of those TV with the fake fps boosting screens (like Samsung 120 CMI).. would this make games that have a hard frame rate CAP of 60 appear more smoothly to the eye ? Obviously a real 144 hz gaming monitor wouldn't help due to the fps cap set by the game so I am just curious if this is a potential work around?

If I am NOT MLG 360 no scope playing FPS shooter and therefore don't care for input lag. Would this work? And also.. What happens if the game lags and FPS drop in game. Will the TV still insert fakeo frames to compensate

the issue with using a television as a  gaming monitor is the high pixel response time, you may experience severe ghosting

no it makes it look like crap

on some tvs you can disable it or rename the input to PC to have that shut off

You would get tearing with Vsync off.

You would get stuttering with it on.

No TV processing would get rid of that. So I would say.. NO.

TV's also have a lot more latency than a monitor and a monitor would also produce better colors

It might appear smoother. But you wouldn't get the biggest benefit of a true 144hz screen which is much much lower input lag and response time.
