R9 380 vs. GTX 960

yaboiricey

I am thinking about a mid range PC build and I want a good graphics card and don't know if I should go for the Gtx 960 or an R9 380 or should I just wait and save up for a Gtx 970.

I don't think you'll need to save up for a GTX 970.
The R9 380 is such a great card that you'll be very happy with it I guess.

It performs really well at 1080p and if you get the 4GB version, which I highly recommend, it should hold up pretty well for the future.

I am an AMD fan but even that is going a bit far

R9 390 > GTX 970 unless the game is an Nvidia title, and uses Nvidia's Shitworks technology. As for anyone bitching about temps, the R9 390's usually hover around 72c under load, which is similar to the GTX 970.

The R9 380 is a decent gaming card but personally i'd save up for an R9 390 if i were you mate.

Get the R9 380 4GB.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

The R9 380 is the overall better performer and has a better price to performance ratio than the 960. It will also perform quite well for some time at 1080p. I'd go with the Gigabyte R9 380 G1 Gaming http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Gaming-Graphics-GV-R938... if you want a model that comes with a nice OC out of the box, runs cool, and at a great price point.

I have a GTX 960 with 4 gb and i absolutely love it and can highly recommend it. However, if you get the 2 gb version you will have problems with ultra graphics like my friend has them now...
