4pin vs 8pin

Trying to build a budget gaming system under $700US excluding OS. I was looking at ATX and microATX MB and realized that some have 4 pin and some have 8, what is the performance hit from using 4 vs 8pin can somebody shed some light on this for me

it doesnt affect performance

8 pin is just for more power delivery for overclocking more

No performance difference.

 

The power connectors themselves have no direct impact on performance.

well, each of those pins (pair of pins, you need a vcc and ground offcourse) has an amount of current it can provide, more pins means more current, meaning more wattage your components can tap into.

All it affects is power delivery. More pins means more power is available. Power delivery is only a concern on cpus that can be overclocked or for high tdp (wattage) cpus.
